Voice Therapy
WHAT IS IT?
Voice therapy is specialized care provided by a licensed speech-language pathologist to help improve how your voice sounds, feels, and functions.
Treatment is individualized and tailored to your specific goals and symptoms. It typically includes vocal exercises to reduce strain and tension, improve breath support, and restore clarity and strength.
We also spend time discussing your daily vocal habits, the overall demands placed on your voice, and how your work, home environment, or health may be contributing to symptoms.

A referral is not required to schedule an evaluation.
For voice therapy, I require a diagnosis based on a visual exam of the vocal cords by an ENT doctor (ideally a laryngologist, a voice-specialized ENT). This ensures that therapy is safe, appropriate, and tailored to your specific needs, as different voice conditions require different treatment approaches.
If you have not yet had this exam, you are still welcome to schedule an evaluation. We would simply need the ENT evaluation completed before proceeding with regular therapy sessions. I’m also happy to help guide you in finding an appropriate ENT and coordinate care as needed.

Yes, singing voice therapy is a large portion of my practice.

I am committed to accommodating last-minute appointments for urgent voice needs whenever possible. As a former performer, I understand that waiting a week or through the weekend to address a voice issue can be far from ideal.
Patient Testimonials
Her leadership and guidance restored my ability to communicate with others comfortably while restoring my self-confidence. Of the numerous professionals whom I have met in various therapy roles, Caroline is one of the rare few who can extract the individual needs of the patient and quickly establish an effective program... My recovery came with new, weekly challenges that were met with a smile and continued results! So grateful."
"Caroline Murrah was my voice therapist for… damaged vocal cords due to an emergency surgery…”
“Caroline is by far one of the most capable medical professionals that I've had the pleasure of
working with…
“After my sessions… I left her office fully healed and better than I was even before the injury… In the end I was thankful that I had the [vocal] injury because Caroline taught me techniques to care for my voice that I never learned, even from my vocal coach that I had been seeing for over a year...I would recommend her to anyone and everyone struggling with a vocal injury, or even someone just looking to better care for their vocal health. Thank you Caroline, you're a lifesaver!"
" I could not sing your praises highly enough…”
“Perhaps by now you’ve been told that my condition has improved markedly. I quickly pointed out to the doctor that you are much much to be credited for directing my therapy. Dr. — agrees and shares my high opinion of your professional abilities, without hesitation.”
"I experienced a negative change in my voice following a thyroidectomy, including gravelly texture, fatigue, and an inability to express much vocal inflection at all. I had previously had a vocal range of a little over four octaves and found myself reduced to not even a full octave. As a professional voice actor of 20+ years, with much of my work coming from character and long-form narration, the idea of these after-effects limiting my ability to work were daunting to say the least...I was given exercises for recovery as well as to increase my vocal stamina. She was encouraging and insightful and helped me to regain much of what I thought I had lost. She helped me understand how to intentionally help my voice do what I had previously done without effort (much like learning to drive a stick-shift after driving an automatic) and learn awareness for when I was becoming fatigued or slipping out of the good vocal habits she was helping me develop. She had an infectious encouragement that helped me believe I could recover... I told her many times that it's unfortunate professional voice actors don't see a vocal therapist until they need help. To that end I would heartily recommend Caroline to any voice professional - don't
wait until it's a necessity!"
